APT’s Toxin and Basic Filler Training Certificate of Attendance Course for registered medical professionals is designed to provide individuals with the latest and safest injection techniques available. This course will provide you with the necessary training required by professional colleges in order to provide neurotoxin and dermal filler injections to your cosmetic patients. Once you have registered for Toxin and Basic Filler Training, you will receive a username and password to access course resource materials on our APT Injection Training website. A short time after that, you will be granted access to an exclusive and comprehensive online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Log in credentials to access the VLE will be sent to you directly by an organization named MATA Training Academy. This university-standard learning platform focuses on the theoretical component of the course and contains videos, images, quizzes and case studies. Whilst the Virtual Learning Environment is rich in valuable content requiring 35 to 40 hours for completion, it is also both interactive and engaging! All course registrants are required to complete the VLE prior to attendance of their weekend course.

Our weekend Toxin and Basic Filler Training Course typically begins with a short didactic session in the morning followed by hands-on injection technique training with a maximum Trainee/Trainer ratio of 2:1. There is significant time throughout the course dedicated to providing our course attendees with this hands-on training as well as a structured format for feedback.

In addition to receiving a Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the Toxin and Basic Filler Training Course, you will be eligible to apply your experience towards acquiring an International Qualification for a Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Clinical Injectable Therapies (Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers). This Qualification is awarded by Eduqual, which is a globally-recognized, well-respected, regulated awarding body. APT Injection Training administers this Qualification in conjunction with MATA from the United Kingdom.

Toxin Injection Training – Dysport®, Xeomin®, Botox®

Duration: 1 Day (9.5 hours)

Pre-Course Reading: 15-20 hours

Course Overview

  1. Concepts of beauty and ideal facial features
  2. Facial anatomy and the muscles responsible for facial expression
  3. Indications, risks, and benefits of treatment
  4. Practical – demonstration of facial injections for upper and lower sites followed by hands-on injection time to treat the following:
  • Frown lines (glabellar complex)
  • Forehead lines (horizontal)
  • Crow’s feet (periorbital rhytids)
  • Brow lift (medial & lateral brow depressors)
  • Bunny lines of the nose (nasalis)
  • Down-turned mouth (depressor anguli oris)
  • Eye jelly roll (hypertrophicorbicularis)
  • Gummy smile (LLSAN)
  • Mental crease / peau d’orange / chin dimpling (mentalis)
  • Platysmal neck bands (platysma)
  • Smoker’s lines of the mouth (orbicularis oris)

Basic Filler Training – Hyaluronic Acid

Duration: 1 Day (9.5 hours)

Pre-Course Reading: 12-15 hours

Course Overview

  1. Overview of anatomy and physiology as applied to the skin
  2. Types of dermal fillers, their history, FDA approval, properties/mechanism of action, indications of each product’s use
  3. Emphasis on establishing client expectations, contraindications, potentials risks including use of hyaluronidase
  4. Proper injection techniques – bolus, serial puncture, retrograde and antegrade injections, linear threading, fanning, cross-hatching, layering and others as required
  5. Understanding the consultation and treatment processes through interactive teaching
  6. Practical – smoothing lines, filling creases, contouring and enhancing facial features using dermal fillers in the follow treatment sites:
  • Lips – augmentation and definition
  • Melomental folds
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Cheek augmentation
  • Fine lines
  • Jaw contouring

This Qualification is awarded by Eduqual, which is a globally-recognized, well-respected, regulated awarding body. APT Injection Training administers this Qualification in conjunction with MATA from the United Kingdom.

The course is delivered by “blended learning”, meaning attendees can schedule their studies according to their individual work and lifestyle routines all whilst still gaining a valuable qualification. Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Clinical Injectable Therapies (Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers) is comprised of the following:

  • Online theory via a comprehensive Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to be completed prior to the hands-on course
  • Hands-on injection technique training and practice using live models with a maximum Trainee/Trainer ratio of 2:1
  • Completion of a Log Book Assessment demonstrating 10 observed treatments and 10 executed treatments each for toxin and dermal filler
  • 1-Day Assessment & Certification (held on a weekend) includes assessed observations of consultation, treatment planning and delivery, and safe practice and 3 certification exams
  • Submission of 2 APA papers discussing injection/delegating procedures and practice implementation

The length of time it takes to complete the various components of the Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Clinical Injectable Therapies (Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers) is dependent on each individual’s time and unique circumstances. The recommended guideline for completion of the course in its entirety is between 6 to 9 months.

Registrants who have already completed our Toxin and Basic Filler Certificate of Attendance Course will have a head start with respect to attaining the Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Clinical Injectable Therapies (Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers) Upgrade Course. We store all information pertaining to treatments performed during the previous certification weekend and this information can easily be accessed and applied to the completion of the required Log Book. For those individuals who are already actively injecting, procedures already performed within their practice can also be used towards Log Book completion. The recommended guideline for completion of the upgrade course is 3 to 4 months.
